Tranquil Oasis in the Heart of Marrakesh

If you find yourself in Marrakech, a visit to Jardin Majorelle is an absolute must. This botanical garden is a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and is a feast for the senses.

Jardin Majorelle holds a special place in the hearts of many, including one of the most famous fashion designers of all time: Yves Saint Laurent. In 1984, Saint Laurent and his partner, Pierre Bergé, purchased the garden with the intention of preserving the vision of its original owner, French landscape painter Jacques Majorelle. They were determined to maintain the garden's beauty and keep it open to the public for all to enjoy.

As you enter the garden, you are immediately greeted with a burst of colour. The plants here are a stunning mix of cacti, palms, and other exotic species, all perfectly arranged to create a breathtaking landscape.

But the real showstopper is the electric-blue building in the centre of the garden. This is the former home of French landscape painter Jacques Majorelle, who spent over 40 years creating this magical space.

One of the highlights of Jardin Majorelle is the Berber Museum, which is located within the garden. Here you can learn about the history and culture of the Berber people, who have lived in North Africa for thousands of years. The museum has a beautiful collection of jewelry, textiles, and pottery, all of which are made by Berber artisans.

The garden, started in 1924, contains a psychedelic desert mirage of 300 plants species from 5 continents.

Walking through the garden, you'll notice that everything is meticulously maintained.

From the pristine paths to the perfectly trimmed hedges, it's clear that the staff here takes great pride in keeping the garden in top condition.

But perhaps the most fun part of Jardin Majorelle is simply wandering around and taking in the sights and sounds.

As you stroll through the garden, you'll hear the soothing sound of fountains and the chirping of birds. You might even spot a turtle or two! And with plenty of benches and shady spots to sit, it's the perfect place to relax and unwind.

Whether you're a nature lover, an art enthusiast, or just looking for a peaceful escape, Jardin Majorelle is sure to delight. So next time you're in Marrakech, be sure to add it to your itinerary!
